Longest day of action

Saturday, June 21
In and around LOVE park

8:00 am - Solstice ritual

Solstice morning we were greeted with blue skies and the normal, tidy-bowl blue water in the LOVE park fountain.

We began the ritual by ringing bells to awaken the people in the city to the effects of biodev. The china dinner bells were purchased from a local thrift shop the day before.

After invoking the sun to illuminate the effects of the biodev industry and strengthen us in our actions, we each gathered a small cup of water from the fountain. Each person poured the water into the caudren as he or she named an impact to be cleansed.

We did a spiral dance, singing
No army can hold back a thought,
No fence can chain the sea.
The Earth will not be sold or bought,
All life shall be free!

At the end of the dance the water was poured at the base of a tree as we asked the earth to cleanse this water.

11:00 am - March for sustainable agriculture

The Pagan Cluster joined the march for sustainable agriculture because it most closely matched our intention for the year.

The march began at the regional headquarters of the EPA - about two blocks from LOVE park, where the march was supposed to join the healthcare and bioweapons marches. After standing around for half an hour we marched around a couple blocks and joined the healthcare march. The bioweapons march joined in, and we all crossed the street to LOVE park.

When we returned to LOVE park we were amazed to see that the water in the fountain was now clear!

The combined march continued on to the convention center.
